My name is Thiago Correa, borned in Rio de Janeiro-RJ (Brazil), and now I
live in Foz do Iguaçu-PR (Brazil).
I study in the last year of Computer Science at UNIOESTE University at Foz,
and I work on ITAIPU Technology Park (PTI) on the development of some
projects for the ITAIPU Binational Hydroelectric Power Plant (more specifics
on equipment/devices monitoring eletrical systems).
These projects require a large amount of documentation, such as contracts
and docs of Software Engineering, and so on. And there are some fases of the
projects that the only app I work with for weeks is the OpenOffice writer or
This is how I came up with the idea of accessing a repository directly
from OpenOffice, seeing that we already had problems with these docs, whitch
could compromise the projects´s schedule. Problems that would be better
solved with SVN and OpenOffice working together.
I´ve taken a look on SVN´s headers files, and I saw some
functionalities that I could use, and I already have an idea on how to
elaborate this project. I also got the OpenOffice code but did not studied
it well, and sincerely I have a poor idea so far of where to start. So I
guess my steps are:
- Study SVN´s code;
- Study OppenOffice´s code;
- Elaborte modeling documentation of basic functionalities, for better
- Implement this functionalities (like List, Checkout, Commit, Add, Delete,
etc).. this part is hard to predict;
- Document some tests, implement and run them;
- Document and validate the implementation done;
Thanks for your attention,

The most important thing before a project can be started is getting
clear about the requirements.
How do you want to access the repository? Do you want to store the
document into the repository as a whole? Or do you want to store the
single streams in it separately?
Should loading and storing documents happen from the file dialog? How
would you like to present your svc connection to the user in this case?
Or is it acceptable to use a special GUI (something like checkin/checkout)?
