Last call for dictiionray updates to be integrated in OOo 3.2.1

thomas.lange

Hi all,

We decided to make a round for dictionary integration into OOo 3.2.1.
Thus if you have an update of an existing dictionary extension and want
it to be included per default with OOo 3.2.1, then please submit a
respective task. In that task please provide a download link to the
extension, set target to OOo 3.2.1 and assign the issue directly to me (tl).

If you plan on providing a new dictionary (not just an update to an
already included one), please be aware that we need to proceed with a
legal review and thus may be too short in time for OOo 3.2.1.

Regards,
Thomas

i finally got approval from the Secwepemc Cultural Education Society
for use of their language list.  They released their wordlist under an
LGPL

So  I do have Secwepemc hunspell dictionary in it's raw form
(http://shs.openoffice.org), but not as an OOo extension.  I have a
copy on my laptop somewhere.  I just need to find it.  I'll post a
task, but I would like comments, on it.  or if someone could suggest
some automatic build tools that would build an OOo extension and make
a dictionary.  I'm sure if I just research on the OOo site I'll find
something like that.

I'm sorry to tell, but upon inquiry yesterday I just heard that because
of the acquisition the old legal review process is no longer existent,
and unfortunately no new one is set up so far.
Thus I'm afraid until a new legal review process exists we can not
include any new dictionaries into our source. That is for the time being
we can only accept updates to existing ones that already got their legal
approval in the past. :-(

However it is still perfectly fine for the dictionary provider to upload
any (new) extension to the repository (after all that is one reason for
the existence of the repository).

I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Thomas

What's the time line for having the new process in place?

Weytk,

I have an shs extension right here that I made last night, but couldn't
quite get to work on Mac OS X 10.6

http://neskiemanuel.ath.cx/shs_spellchecker_OOo3.oxt<http://tmicw.neskonlithband.com/shs_spellchecker_OOo3.oxt>

I created it using the hunspelll-spellcheck-vi build.sh script.  I think I
might have missed a step, because on the Language Settings > Language
Shuswap doesn't have a little blue checkmark beside it.  I'll look over it
again today, but I am wondering if anyone could take a look at it.

I finally found it! As in most cases small things do matter. ^_-
You had a little typo in the manifest.xml. The first line should read
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
whereas you forgot the first '?' character.

Thanks Thomas!.  I forgot about the program xmllint.  That would have told
me right away.
