Ukrainian test build AOO 4.1.5 for Windows

Matthias Seidel
Hi all,

I recently made a test build of AOO 4.1.5 for Windows in Ukrainian language:
https://home.apache.org/~mseidel/AOO-builds/AOO-415-L10n/AOO-415-Ukrainian/

Feel free to download the full installation or the language pack and
test it!

Please note:

This is an initial test version, not including recent translations made
on Pootle.
We can use it to check the current state of translation and whether we
can build it with the current tools.
It is expected to still contain untranslated strings, but you can check
if the part that is translated makes sense.

Regards,

   Matthias

Hello there, I have noticed some errors even in the installer program, so I have some questions.
Is there a way to not only see the English original string but also the context of that string?
Is there a way to search the translated phrase to fix it? Because I was unable to search that wrong translation in Pootle. (Maybe it was fixed already)

Hi,

We have two "phases" of the installation process.

First the downloaded binary will be extracted by NSIS [1], then the MSI
installer takes over...

Normally we also patch the strings in NSIS, but that isn't working at
the moment [2].
So it could be that the wrong translation is located in the NSIS sources...

Regards,

   Matthias

RE: Ukrainian test build AOO 4.1.5 for Windows

Thank you for the answer, I have checked the NSIS installer, the error is in its translation and I have contacted their admin.

But there is still one question to be answered: is there a way to find out the context for a string?

Because, for example, I stumbled across this odd string:

And I am very curious to find out what should I do with such strings.

As soon as we have fixed "our" bug we will not use most of those strings anyway...
But if there is a spelling error it should be fixed in NSIS, of course! ;-)

But there is still one question to be answered: is there a way to find out the context for a string?

Sorry, attachments are cut of in this mailing list. Can you provide the screenshot another way?

Me too! ;-)

Ah, that one is in here:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/openoffice/trunk/main/instsetoo_native/inc_openoffice/windows/msi_languages/Control.ulf

You see "Control.ulf#OOO_CONTROL_206.LngText.txt" in Pootle? So this is string "OOO_CONTROL_206" in file "Control.ulf"

I would keep the translation as it is, did you see it during installation? I have never seen it in "real life". ;-)

Regards,
   Matthias
