i have tested (was: Test builds for Windows)

Jörg Schmidt-2
Hello,

> I am just doing a build of AOO414 including all 41 available languages.

Thank you.

I have tested Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.4_Win_x86_install_de.exe, no problems.

But I have made a strange observation:
If I try to unpack the installation package with 7Zip does not work, but there is an error message.

Obviously, this is due to the fact that 2 folders with cryptic names (e.g., "_ ユ") are created. That means the structure of the decompressed files is:

/Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.4_Win_x86_install_de/
-/_ ユ/
--/licenses/...
--/readmes/...
--/redist/...
--/...
-/_レ/
--/InstalllOptions.dll
--/ioSpecial.ini
--/modern-header.bmp
--/modern-wizard.bmp

greetings,
Jörg

That sounds good!

Why unpack it? It is self extracting... ;-)

Using 7-Zip 16.04 I have no problem unpacking it... Which version are
you using?

because it is more convenient, if I want to make a server installation (setup /a) afterwards.
I can do the extraction to the desired directory without having to choose, because the right command is in the context menu (extract to <...>)

yes, clear

OK, I have updated, 7zip 16.04 works correctly. Everything is fine now.

7-zip 9.20 is almost 7 years old. Only two weeks ago I discovered that
that a new version was available...

The creation date of my Windows folder (C:\Windows) is 14. July 2009

Amazing how stable Windows has become now, with Windows 98SE would hardly have been possible 8 years without reinstallation ;-)

Windows98 is not a good reference in total.
I would only compare it to the NT series. And all of them where stable depending what you install.

I would like to advertise Chocolatey, the Windows Paket Manager. It is really the way to go if you want to do server based installations.

All the best

My statement was just a joke. Of course it is not right to compare Windows 98SE directly with Windows7.

btw: I've never used Windows NT. My first stable system was Windows 2000.

Thanks, but no. I do not need any extra tools for my purposes.

Hmm, seems my fun LVL is low.
It is just an advert. It is fine if you like it your way. But I really really recommend you take at least a look. Maybe it has some ideas for you. Since the tool is only a PowerShell script.
And Windows install mechanics need some love... ;)

Is this: https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=127176 is fixed with 4.1.4?
I can't test cause I don't have Windows 32-bit.

Re: i have tested

Matthias Seidel
Hi,

at least it works on my Windows 10 (64bit).
I bundled the latest version of msvcr100.dll (32bit) with that build.

But it would be good if anyone else could confirm it.

Regards, Matthias

The issue can be tested with any version of Windows irregardless of
bitness of the OS. The issue is with the version of msvcr100.dll. The
64bit version of the dll was inadvertently bundled with the 4.1.3
release thereby not allowing AOO version 4.1.3 to recognize a valid 32
bit JRE. To test if it has indeed been fixed you can install a test
version of 4.1.4 on any windows machine and see if it finds your JRE. If
it does not than the root cause of the issue is not fixed. If it does
then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program and check
the properties of msvcr100.dll and verify that it is version
9.00.30729.01 or higher. If it is not than the issue is not completely fixed

Regards
Keith

Tested with

2017-06-26 15:00:18 (Mo, 26 Jun 2017)

JRE 1.8.0_131 (32 bit) is identified
and msvcr100.dll is version 10.0.40219.325

so the bug seems to be fixed.

The Java problem is confirmed fixed in the new build tested under
Windows 7 (=6.1.7601) Professional SP1 x64
I will install under Windows XP when I have a chance.
