tab and autocomplete in calc ( issue 18748)

Peter Kovacs-3
Hello all,

this is a bad time where everybody is in christmas, but I just tried to
understand this one here.  - https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=18748

The issue is that as soon as Autocomplete offer is active the tab key
does not work anymore.

Excel says you have to press x2, once for autocomplete one for moving right.

Consitsent in OpenOffice would be to accept the autocorrect as we do on
enter, but instead of moving down we move right.

What is you opinion on this? I think copy Excel is a _very_ weak
argument to do something.

Patches for this are available for review. So this one can be fixed
easily if we make an agreement on the direction we want to go.

Should be in for next version.

All the best

Peter

X2? I know that F2 is used in excel to modify a cell in place.

x2 means two times. Sorry I am tired.

Example:

1) enter raw

2) press tab -> active cell moves right

3) press r -> Autocomplete offers raw

4) press tab -> Excel does autocomplete; AOO nothing happens -> I think
consistent would be to auto complete and move right.

5) press tab -> Excel move right.

I am now off to bed ;) good night everyone.

Peter

have you seen the option "Tools - OpenOffice Calc - General - Press
Enter to move selection"? Here you can choose the direction. The best
whould be to make it customizable the Tab key as well.

Preferred alternative:
Move to the right is what I would expect. Thats what I understand how
the Tab key should work. Also in Writer it moves the cursor to the right.

Also possible:
Move it like the Return key (default is "move down").

My 2 ct.

Marcus
